Dr Eileen Culloty (MLI Co-Chair) is an Associate Professor in the School of Communications at Dublin City University. She is Deputy Director of the DCU Institute for Media, Democracy, and Society and chair of the BA in Communication Studies. Her research focuses on disinformation, media literacy education, and the future of media. Eileen leads the Ireland Hub of the European Digital Media Observatory, a cross sector initiative that connects researchers, fact checkers, and media literacy practitioners to improve responses to disinformation.
She also serves as Co-Chair of Media Literacy Ireland and, in 2024, she was appointed to Ofcom’s Making Sense of Media Research, Evidence and Evaluation Working Group. Her work is informed by a commitment to public interest research and democratic accountability.
