Clíodhna Purdue is an Assistant Director in the Media Literacy and User Education team in Coimisiún na Meán, Ireland’s media regulator. Coimisiún na Meán has a statutory duty to promote and endorse media literacy initiatives and it complies with this requirement by funding and facilitating Media Literacy Ireland. She has extensive experience in the design and delivery of online safety and media literacy programmes and resources, with a particular focus on young people and parents.
Prior to joining Coimisiún na Meán, Clíodhna coordinated the Online Safety Programme at Barnardos for 4 years and also worked in Childnet International, writing resources and delivering workshops in schools.
Clíodhna has a B.A in European Studies from Trinity College Dublin, a European Masters in Human Rights and Democratisation (EMA) and a Higher Diploma in Education from Trinity College Dublin.
Areas of expertise: A qualified secondary school teacher, Clíodhna enjoys delivering workshops and answering questions to audiences of all ages. Her particular area of focus is explaining how media regulation in Ireland works and what rights the general public have online now.
