Safer Internet Day (SID) 2026 will take place on Tuesday, 10 February 2026. This global event is an opportunity for schools, organisations, families and the wider community to put online safety at the top of the agenda and take action to make the internet a safer, better place for everyone, especially children and young people. Every year, thousands of people in Ireland participate in Safer Internet Day activities.

This Year’s Theme: AI Aware: Safe, Smart and in Control
The theme reflects on how AI technologies shape children’s experiences online, highlighting the benefits and risks of AI, and it aims to empower them to navigate AI safely and responsibly.
How To Get Involved?
Register as a Safer Internet Day Supporter!
Join hundreds of schools and organisations across Ireland who have registered their support for Safer Internet Day. By signing up, you’ll appear on the interactive SID events map celebrating all the brilliant activities taking place across the country!
Use the New Safer Internet Day Lessons
New lessons, available for both primary and post-primary schools, focus on emerging technologies, especially AI. Students will learn about Generative AI, its benefits, risks, and safe, responsible use. These new resources were developed in collaboration with Dublin City University, with special thanks to Dr Dónal Mulligan.
Schools can also explore a range of other online safety topics through scripted presentations, specifically designed to support students taking part in Safer Internet Day.
