Nessa McGann is a media consultant and project director with more than 25 years’ experience across Irish, European, and Asian broadcasting. She specialises in strategic content development, regulatory policy, and large-scale industry events, bringing together public service and commercial media with international partners.
Through her consultancy, McGann Media, she has coordinated the media engagement and monitoring across the independent radio sector of national campaigns such as MLI-led Be Media Smart campaign andthe Webwise-led Safer Internet Day campaign.
As an active member of MLI and strong advocate for media literacy, she also contributed to the development of Ireland’s national media literacy awards programme and served on the MLI Training and Development Working Group.
Her collaboration with Learning Waves Skillnet has created professional training programmes for journalists, presenters, and students, supporting sector-wide development.
Internationally, Nessa serves as Programme Director for Radiodays Asia and is a core team member for Radiodays Europe, curating global conferences that connect broadcasters, policymakers, and platforms such as UNESCO, YouTube, and Apple.
Previously, she held senior leadership roles with SPIN South West and Wired FM, where she drove audience growth, content innovation, and talent development. Her career reflects a strong commitment to public interest media, democratic values, and empowering audiences through media literacy.
