Cinemagic is an award-winning film charity and the Cinemagic Belfast Festival is the leading film and television festival for young people in the UK and Ireland.
Cinemagic Young Filmmaker 2022 will take place during the Cinemagic Belfast Festival in October 2022 and Cinemagic is looking for imaginative and original films made by young people to be screened as part of the festival. The films can be about subject. Fact or fiction, comedy or drama, news programme or documentary.
The festival will also showcase the best short film entries of the year and will also involve a series of workshops and masterclasses with renowned members of the film and TV industry. The winning entries will also be screened during the Cinemagic International Film Festival for Young People in 2023.
Running for 33 years Cinemagic Young Filmmaker has many well-known alumni including - Michael Lennox (Derry Girls), William McGregor (Gwen, His Dark Materials, The Missing, Poldark), Ryan Tohill (The Dig), Andrew Tohill (The Dig), Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground, Evil Dead Rise). Don't miss your chance to join that list.
Closing date for entries is August 1, 2022. Young Filmmakers must be aged 25 or under to enter the competition. A prize voucher, physical award and certificate will be presented to the Young Filmmaker of the Year in each award category. The categories include Best Animation; Best Documentary; Best Music Video; Best Drama; Best Experimental; Best Horror/Sci-Fi; Best Micro Short.
