Call for Solutions: Tech against Disinformation

This is a call for innovative solutions of a technological or digital nature that will help to optimize, streamline and automate the processes of verification of contents (fact-checking) in any of the following phases:

– Traceability of the origin of the information. Identification of actors, vectors and channels that encourage the viralization of fake news.
– Monitoring of media, social networks and messaging applications to identify threads, conversations or publications that should be contrasted.
– Verification of contents, data and information identified.
a. Contrast of the information with already published fact checks.
b. Generation of new verification from official data.
– Dissemination of verified content in order to block the dissemination of manipulated information. Solutions must have a level of technological development equal to or higher than TRL 5 (Technology Readiness Level),and their implementation must be feasible, both technically and economically.

The call is aimed at solutions with a degree of technological maturity greater than or equal to TRL5. Solutions must be prepared to be tested in a real environment and must provide concrete and measurable results.

The winning solutions will be piloted in the context of fact-checking in Spain and will receive financial support of up to €40,000. However, the requesting organization must contribute at least 20% of the total project budget. Financial support will only be available for those activities and aspects directly related to the implementation of the pilot and no expenditure on personnel, travel or daily subsistence allowance may be included.

The deadline for submissions is July 9th at 12 (CEST) with winners announced in September 2021.
