Media and Information Literacy Event Series at the 3rd World Higher Education Conference.

As UNESCO and partners hold the Third World Higher Education Conference (WHEC) in Barcelona, Spain, on May 18-20, 2022, it is time to seize the opportunity to highlight the urgency to integrate media and information literacy in university curricula. Such an approach will empower all students with fundamental competencies of quality 21st Century education. This is especially crucial in the governance of post-COVID 19 educational systems and enabling free flow of information while tackling disinformation threats in the digital world. The panel aims to show the substantial role of the UNESCO-UNAOC-UNITWIN University Network on Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue and to share the experiences of key members of this international university network, addressing both best practices and challenges. In this regard, this session is in the spirit of the sub-themes of the “Futures of Higher Education” and the “Impact of COVID-19 on higher education” of the UNESCO World Higher Education Conference 2022.
