Aimed at raising awareness of individual rights under online safety legislation, the multi-channel campaign seeks&nbsp;to reach young people, parents and those who work with young people. The goal is to empower the public with knowledge of their rights and how to exercise them \u2013 in particular, by reporting to platforms. The campaign includes a series of short videos, encouraging the public to report harmful material they might encounter online, including cyberbullying and the promotion of eating disorders, self-harm and suicide, as well as dangerous challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For young people, the message is \u2018<strong>If\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0harmful in real life,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0harmful online. Report harmful content to the platform where you see it<\/strong>\u2019.\u00a0Three 15-second videos are running on social media, with each video focusing on a different online harm \u2013 you can watch them\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/%40CoimisiunnaMean\/shorts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For parents of young people, the message is \u2018<strong>Harmful content is never acceptable. Report it to the platform where you see it<\/strong>\u2019. The 30-second video, in both\u00a0English\u00a0and\u00a0Irish, is running on social media, video on demand and in cinemas and an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnam.ie\/general-public\/guides-resources\/for-parents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ISL version<\/a> is available on the Coimisi\u00fan\u00a0na\u00a0Me\u00e1n website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To support the media campaign, Coimisi\u00fan&nbsp;na&nbsp;Me\u00e1n is offering a suite of resources on its website that provide user-friendly, step-by-step guidance on how to report harmful and illegal content on some of the most popular platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The How to Report guides are accompanied by easy-to-follow videos going through the reporting journey and outlining users\u2019 rights if they are unhappy about a platform\u2019s decision on whether or not to remove the content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An overview video that explains the difference between reporting illegal and harmful content to platforms is also provided.
