If you would like to submit a resource for inclusion in this library, please complete <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medialiteracyireland.ie\/call-for-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this<\/a> form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blue Star Programme Media Literacy videos<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>On 2 October,\u00a0European Movement Ireland launched its new Blue Star Programme Media Literacy Video Series to help primary school pupils separate fact from fiction in a child-friendly, creative and accessible way. Aimed at pupils aged 9\u201312, the resources are fully aligned with the National Primary School Curriculum\u2019s focus on research in senior classes.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanmovement.ie\/press-release-blue-star-programme-media-literacy-videos-equip-pupils-to-identify-disinformation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>More<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI Can Make Mistakes campaign<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>To accompany Global MIL Week 2025 (24\u201331 October), UNESCO has launched the \u2018AI Can Make Mistakes\u2019 campaign. This digital campaign examines both the promises and pitfalls of artificial intelligence. While AI offers incredible opportunities, it&#8217;s far from flawless. Errors, biases and misinformation can easily emerge, making Media and Information Literacy more critical than ever. You can access resources for sharing on social media <a href=\"https:\/\/trello.com\/b\/9y2MFjYo\/mil-week-2025-ai-can-make-mistakes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Journalism graduates secure positions in local radio stations<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>On 8 October, Learning Waves announced a significant step towards nurturing the future of journalism in Ireland, as ten promising journalism students were chosen to embark on paid placements at ten independent radio stations around the country, as part of the award-winning 2025 Learning Waves Journalism Graduate Programme.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.learningwaves.ie\/blog\/703\/ten-journalism-graduates-land-paid-placements-in-local-radio.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>More<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creative Europe funding available for media literacy initiatives<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.creativeeuropeireland.eu\/funding-opportunities\/call\/media-literacy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Media Literacy Call 2026<\/a>\u00a0from Creative Europe supports innovative cross-border media literacy projects and practices across Europe. This funding aims to address the challenges of the continuously changing digital media landscape. The deadline for applications is <strong>11 March 2026<\/strong>.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medialiteracyireland.ie\/creative-europes-media-literacy-call-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>More<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Funding for National Counter Disinformation Strategy<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with the Programme for Government, \u20ac1.1 million in Exchequer funding has been allocated to the implementation of the National Counter Disinformation Strategy (NCDS) in 2026 to support research, fact-checking and media literacy initiatives.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ie\/en\/department-of-culture-communications-and-sport\/press-releases\/ministers-odonovan-and-mcconalogue-announce-details-of-budget-2026-for-the-department-of-culture-communications-and-sport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>More<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Media Skills and Development Programme<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n has launched a new funding programme to support training, learning and development activities that ensure a media landscape that is sustainable, pluralistic and participative, and that reflects and shapes who we are as a society. This annual programme will offer successful applicants funding to deliver a variety of initiatives and activities to support their training and development needs in line with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnam.ie\/app\/uploads\/2025\/10\/202501001_MediaSkills_Dev_Policy-ENG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Media Skills and Development Programme Policy<\/a>. The organisers are accepting proposals on a variety of themes from policymakers, media producers, learning designers and educators. IAMCR is\u00a0thepreeminentworldwideprofessionalorganisation\u00a0in the field of media and communication research. The conference will bring 2,000 scholars to Galway from up to 80 countries. The DSA obliges very large online platforms to provide user-friendly ways to report illegal content. EDMO Ireland is one of 14 hubs that is part-funded by the EU. EDMO Ireland developed the Be Media Smart \u2018Workshop-in-a-Box\u2019, works on media literacy research and standards, and co-hosts the annual Disinformation Forum with MLI.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>More<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Updates<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>This month, EDMO was primarily working on the presidential election with a media literacy talk on <a href=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/index.php\/spot-the-spin-a-workshop-on-misinformation-and-elections-with-edmo-ireland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">election spin<\/a> at D\u00fan Laoghaire library and the launch of the <a href=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/index.php\/edmo-ireland-and-media-literacy-ireland-relaunch-be-election-smart-campaign-ahead-of-presidential-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Be Election Smart<\/a> campaign with Media Literacy Ireland. It requires an app and some printouts, all of which are accessible <a href=\"https:\/\/escapefake.org\/game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.
