{"id":5597,"date":"2025-02-27T11:39:26","date_gmt":"2025-02-27T11:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.medialiteracyireland.ie\/national-youth-council-of-irelands-resources-for-youth-workers\/"},"modified":"2025-02-27T11:39:26","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T11:39:26","slug":"national-youth-council-of-irelands-resources-for-youth-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.medialiteracyireland.ie\/ga\/national-youth-council-of-irelands-resources-for-youth-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"National Youth Council of Ireland\u2019s Resources for Youth Workers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stay Safe Online: Empowering Young Minds Against Cyberbullying<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To coincide with Safer Internet Day 2025, the National Youth Council of Ireland published its resource for youth workers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youth.ie\/documents\/stay-safe-online-empowering-young-minds-against-cyberbullying\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stay Safe Online: Empowering Young Minds Against Cyberbullying<\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This resource was developed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youth.ie\/articles\/about-the-national-youth-health-programme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Youth Health Programme<\/a> in response to conversations with youth workers across the island of Ireland in relation to cyberbullying and the impact it is having on the young people they work with. It is designed to empower youth workers, parents, guardians and caregivers with the knowledge to support young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resource features statistics and information around bullying and cyberbullying, guidance on how to prevent and intervene in cyberbullying \u2013 offering supports to both targets and perpetrators \u2013 and provides signposts to services that support and inform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Online Safety and Awareness in Youth Work<\/strong> <strong>eLearning Course <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NYCI is also offering free, on-demand online training to support the young work sector to help keep people safe online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youth.ie\/programmes\/child-protection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Child Protection Programme<\/a> in the NYCI supports the youth work sector to meet their child protection and safeguarding responsibilities, and has developed a new free eLearning course to support the youth work sector to help keep young people safe online. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youth.ie\/training\/online-safety-and-awareness-in-youth-work-elearning-course\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">course<\/a> introduces youth workers and volunteers to key topics in online safety, and addresses the challenges that young people may face online.
