These resources are designed to help young people, teachers and parents\/guardians better understand their rights under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnam.ie\/industry-and-professionals\/online-safety-framework\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Online Safety Framework<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Formerly the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI), Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n was established in 2023 with an extended remit to enforce the three new laws that form the Online Safety Framework (the Digital Services Act, the Online Safety and Media Regulation Act, and the Terrorism Content Online Regulation Act).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rights, Rules and Reporting Online outline the role of Coimsi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n, the rights children and young people have under these new laws, and how to report illegal and harmful content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These resources were created in consultation with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webwise.ie\/saferinternetday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Webwise<\/a> and Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n\u2019s Youth Advisory Committee to ensure the language and approach were suitable for young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resources (all available in English and Irish) comprise:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Two lesson plans <\/strong>\u2013 one for <a href=\"https:\/\/view.officeapps.live.com\/op\/view.aspx?src=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnam.ie%2Fapp%2Fuploads%2F2025%2F02%2FPPT_Junior_English_Feb-2025.pptx&amp;wdOrigin=BROWSELINK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Junior Cycle<\/a> and one for <a href=\"https:\/\/view.officeapps.live.com\/op\/view.aspx?src=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnam.ie%2Fapp%2Fuploads%2F2025%2F02%2FPPT_Senior_English_Feb-2025.pptx&amp;wdOrigin=BROWSELINK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Senior Cycle<\/a>. These lessons are suitable for use in subjects such as SPHE, CSPE, Digital Media Literacy and Politics and Society.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Two videos<\/strong>*<strong> <\/strong>\u2013 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ggoGgpLEnzU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video for young people<\/a> summarises their rights online under the Online Safety Framework. A shorter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eey8yOYd5kU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video for parents\/guardians<\/a> outlines how the framework protects their children\u2019s rights online.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>classroom poster<\/strong>, <strong>infographic<\/strong>, <strong>Teacher\u2019s Guide<\/strong> and <strong>student handouts<\/strong>, all of which can be downloaded from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnam.ie\/general-public\/guides-resources\/for-educators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Guides and Resources<\/a> section of the Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We are always looking for feedback and if you, or someone close to you, have used these resources and have questions about them, we would be so grateful to hear from you.
