This Month in Media Literacy<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the summer draws to a close, media literacy diaries are starting to fill up for what promises to be a busy autumn. With only three weeks to go until the MLI Awards close for entries, this is your official reminder to not leave it to the last minute! All the info you need is on the\u00a0MLI website.<\/a>\u00a0Other dates for your diary include two AI events from the Adapt Centre and of course make sure to\u00a0pre-register<\/a>\u00a0to secure your seat for the MLI Annual Conference which will take place in The Foundry in Dublin on 4 December.

MLI Awards \u2013 The countdown is on!<\/strong>
There are only three weeks to go before the 2024 MLI Awards<\/a> close for applications. Organisations big and small are invited to apply \u2013 from schools, libraries, community groups, to online platforms, broadcasters, commentators and influencers\u2026 and everything in between. With five categories there is something for everyone, so do check it out! Please do also help us spread the word<\/a> about MLI Awards by using the social media supporters pack<\/a>.

2024 European Parliament Elections: EDMO Task presents Final Report<\/strong>
The EDMO Task Force published its final report, presenting all outputs and outcomes of an intensive and rewarding community-wide effort. Its work was built on the efforts of over 50 independent fact-checking organisations, part of the EDMO fact-checking network, and the 14 EDMO hubs monitoring disinformation at the local and national level.

Grants available for Cross-Border Collaborative Investigations<\/strong>
Free Press Unlimited<\/a> (FPU) is inviting applications for cross-border collaborative investigative stories. Ten grants of \u20ac10,000 each will be awarded to teams of journalists to produce in-depth, impactful investigative journalism that crosses national borders and addresses critical issues affecting European societies. This open call for applications is part of the Collaborative and Investigative Journalism Initiative (CIJI).

Due to a significant increase in the number of invitations for MLI to participate in conferences, deliver talks and provide training, we are investigating the possibility of creating a panel of MLI speakers and trainers from the MLI membership who could, on occasion, be called upon to represent MLI at events and talks. Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2024 Conference \u2013 30\/31 October<\/strong>
This year\u2019s Global Media and Information Literacy Week (GMILW) Conference will be hosted by UNESCO and the Hashemite Kingdom in Amman, Jordan.\u00a0Under the theme \u201cThe New Digital Frontiers of Information: Media and Information Literacy for Public Interest Information\u201d,\u00a0the event will bring together stakeholders around the globe to explore paths for strengthening collaboration and innovation to power Media and Information Literacy.

Training Series on Election Integrity<\/strong>
Ahead of the European Parliament elections, EDMO launched a training series on election integrity that was attended by over a hundred participants from the fact-checking sector, academia, journalism and civil society. The first training module focused on election integrity on online platforms. The second was aimed at journalists covering the upcoming elections.
