For schools that missed out on the face to to face roadshow, Beat have now published a 20 minute <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/jCcctsYCTyk\">video version<\/a> of the tour which schools and youth groups can access on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beat102103.com\/life\/beats-digital-media-literacy-tour-check-out-the-video-here-1164695\">Beat website<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From January to May 2024, eleven of Beat\u2019s multi-platform content creators delivered a total of 41 bi-lingual digital media literacy information sessions, on site, at twenty different secondary schools across Wexford, Waterford, Carlow, Tipperary and Kilkenny.\u00a0 The schools that were visited, included two Me\u00e1nscoileanna Gaeilge where the course was primarily delivered as gaeilge by two of Beat&#8217;s presenters who are fluent gaelgeoir\u00ed.\u00a0 For each session, the presenters worked in pairs and delivered this campaign with passion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course content was created in-house by the team, based on the junior cycle\u2019s \u201c<em>an introduction to digital media literacy<\/em>\u201d short course curriculum and Media Literacy Ireland\u2019s \u201c<em>Stop, Think, Check<\/em>\u201d campaign. The presenters\u2019 engaging, fun and interactive sessions brought the theory to life for students. All correct answers went into a draw for an iPad for the individual student, and \u20ac1,000 for the school to go towards tools to support the school\u2019s media literacy curriculum. The success of the tour prompted Beat to create a bespoke, subtitled, bilingual video version which is hosted on the Beat website, and is available to all schools nationwide. This specially tailored course was commissioned by young people for young people and co-funded by Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n.\u00a0\u00a0 The young presenters spoke to twelve\/thirteen-year-olds in their own language with relatable content. The students were encouraged to put their learnings from the course, into practise in their own digital lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Digital Media Literacy Video for Schools\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jCcctsYCTyk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Beat has also created a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beat102103.com\/podcasts\/digital-media-literacy-series\">10 podcasts<\/a> which are also desgined to help people, especially young people, to &#8216;Stop, Think and Check&#8217; when it comes to engaging with digital media. The series covers topics such as &#8216;Fake News&#8217;, &#8216;Media Literacy&#8217;, &#8216;Social Media&#8217;, &#8216;Men in Media&#8217; &#8216;Influencing&#8217;, &#8216;International Womens Day&#8217;, &#8216;Screen Time&#8217;, &#8216;Hacking&#8217; and &#8216;Stereotypes&#8217;. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During the first half of 2024, regional radio station, Beat, developed and delivered a substantial Digital Media Literacy Tour for secondary schools across the South East.
