Accurate and reliable information is required to make informed decisions &#8211; especially around elections. See below for tips, tools and resources, from a range of sources, to help people verify the accuracy and reliability of the information that they will use to decide who they want to represent them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Be Election Smart: <\/strong> Ahead of the European Elections, EDMO and the EDMO Hubs are promoting the <a href=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/index.php\/be-election-smart\/\">#BeElectionSmart campaign<\/a> which highlights practical tips and resources to help people develop their media literacy skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"383\" src=\"https:\/\/www.medialiteracyireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/irish-gen-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4054\" style=\"width:1450px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.medialiteracyireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/irish-gen-1.jpg 680w, https:\/\/www.medialiteracyireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/irish-gen-1-420x237.jpg 420w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Supporting Information Integrity around Elections: <\/strong>On May 15 MLI hosted a webinar on <a href=\"https:\/\/us02web.zoom.us\/rec\/play\/Ctf0beeyO-rAteZLjC0BZbYuXfP7v8mnXHc-1GqEAfaQa-Fxf1OwTX4BMrv8uqMCj_ZpUBbLqj_scLIq.jDoqoscpOmuJu4GU\">Supporting Information Integrity around Elections <\/a>with contributions from Factchecking.ie, EDMO Ireland, Coimisi\u00fan Toghch\u00e1in and Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prebunking to preempt manipulation online<\/strong>: Google and Jigsaw are running&nbsp;a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/prebunking.withgoogle.com\/#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prebunking<\/a>&nbsp;campaign ahead of the European Parliamentary elections. The campaign teaches audiences how to spot common manipulation techniques before they encounter them. The campaign website includes short videos which will run on social media as well as explainers and a <a href=\"https:\/\/prebunking.withgoogle.com\/en\/quiz\/\">quiz to test yourself<\/a>. Spot it. Stop it.\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qjtc1IC_Brs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Learn about Ireland\u2019s Electoral System<\/strong>: People are often confused about the electoral system and bad actors spread false information about it. The Electoral Commission, an Coimisi\u00fan Toghch\u00e1in, has a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.electoralcommission.ie\/learning-hub-2\/\">learning hub<\/a>&nbsp;that explains how Ireland\u2019s democratic system and electoral events work. An Coimisi\u00fan Toghch\u00e1in, has also created three 30-second social media videos warning people to treat every day like April Fool\u2019s Day, and featuring people being shown headlines that may or may not be true. The campaign uses April Fool\u2019s Day pranks to illustrate why people need to apply the critical thinking skills to combat false information about elections. It also offers a background guide to key topics that tend to attract bad information including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.factchecking.ie\/articles\/the-new-misinformation-around-elections\">elections<\/a> . The website hosts accessible resources including \u2018ask the expert\u2019 Q&amp;As, information about factchecking, and videos of previous webinars. The website is also available in Irish.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemediasmart.ie\/\">Visit Be Media Smart<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Disinfo Bulletin:<\/strong>&nbsp;This daily newsletter from the EDMO Task Force on 2024 EU Elections delivers concise updates on urgent disinformation narratives surrounding the upcoming Elections for the European Parliament, including insights from fact-checking networks and community initiatives, directly to your inbox every weekday around noon, until election day.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/newsroom\/edmo\/user-subscriptions\/3754\/create\">Subscribe to Disinfo Bulletin<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tackling Disinformation &#8211; A Learning Guide: <\/strong>This is a list of<strong> <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/akademie.dw.com\/en\/tackling-disinformation-a-learning-guide\/s-67264807\">tools and resources <\/a>from DW Akademie on countering disinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Check Your Sources campaign: <\/strong>The European Commission and the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA) have produced a video to remind people to protect themselves from manipulation.
